OCR: WAR OF THE WORDS In the PC/workstation-based text-retrieval arena, Delphi Consulting gives the nod to Dataware, who led the field with 17% of the market in 1994. Much of Dataware's success is derived from its CD-ROM authoring applications and publishing services, said Delphi Executive Vice President Carl Frappaolo. MistoAccess 2% Text retrieval software market share; TMS 29% PC/workstation-based platforms (Based on 1994 lotaf revenue of $135 mhpWon) EB7 2% Fulcrumt 2% Caére 2% Dataware 170% Lotus 3% ask5cm 3% Enmagic 4% Virginla 4% ZYLAB 21% PLS 4% Megalith 5% Foto 90% Odyssey 5% EM 6% Other 99b Active Systems 896 Odyssey, with 5% of the market, is challenging established firms such as askSam and ZyLAB, said Frappaolo. Though Delphi expects little change in PC- and LAN-based text-retrieval numbers for 1995, the firm says client/server installations of the software are growing quickly. Positioning for the future, Odyssey last year entered the hot Internet market with Isys HindSite for Netscape Navigator. SOURCE: DELPHI CONSULTING GROUP INC.
